And so it Begins...

I’m a very careful person.

For most of my life, (excepting for perhaps some teenage stupidity,) I have been incredibly cautious about the way I live. I have taken few chances, preferring instead to think things through thoroughly, planning for every possible outcome, before moving forward. You should see me play chess – I am crippled with fear, incapable of making a move, because I have no idea what butterfly effect I will trigger in the process.

Around 5 years ago, my attitude shifted. My marriage of 7 years came to an end and my desire to be cautious dissipated. The word ‘Yes’ became my very favourite thing to say and being careful and prepared seemed a little less important. Don’t get me wrong, I am still terrible at chess, but with everything else, I have attempted to throw caution to the wind. Life is for living and I intend to live!

In the spirit of saying ‘Yes’ and living life, I have been invited to a wedding…. in Cyprus…. overseas!

Guess who’s going to Europe?!

I currently have a 6-year-old and a new born – not ideal travelling companions, but we can make it work! The biggest issue is money, because if I am going to Cyprus, then I am definitely going to Italy and if I am going to Italy, then I have to go to France and…. well, you can see where I am going with this.

So, how does one go from saying ‘yes’ to everything, to saying ‘yes’ to one big thing and ‘no’ to everything else?

We are about to find out.

I intend to see what life looks like on the cheap. I do well with goals, so when I say that I will stop spending money, I mean it.

To be honest, I am excited to show my little girl how amazing life can be, without all the trimmings. Willow has become quite accustomed to a certain kind of lifestyle – you haven’t lived until you have seen a little girl order scallops at a restaurant.

14 months of buckling down, pinching pennies and not loosening the purse strings, but that is not the real challenge. What I am really hoping to achieve, is 14 months of simple pleasures! I am going to seek out as many free experiences as possible. Life will not become boring, or depressing. The world is full of possibilities and I intend to make the most of them.

I want to be healthy, happy and Rich with Love!
